Fear 07: The Application
Today we’re getting practical. If you’ve ever wondered how to battle fear in everyday life, this episode is for you! In our final show of the mini-series, Laura and Emily give tools to help moms through fear. Whether you choose one step or all of them, we hope this episode encourages you to action in your battle with fear. Let’s be moms who fear God more!
Note: We know that “fear” covers a wide variety of issues—some so lighthearted that we can easily brush them off, and some so disturbing that we can barely utter them to our closest friend. This series is aimed at the most common fears in motherhood—the things that cross our minds and motivate our daily actions. But due to the limitations of our knowledge and the brevity of a 7-episode series we don’t aim to address life’s most complex and sober terrors. Please keep in mind that some instances and experiences of fear may require professional counseling, pastoral care, or a medical doctor. If you find yourself in a situation that feels much larger than the topics we cover in this series, we encourage you to seek help from professionals who are trained to care for you best in this struggle.
The battle against fear takes an army, so we want to give you additional tools for that fight. In our Fear mini-series package you’ll find:
“Fear Him More,” a five-day devotional on fear and motherhood
The Wheel of Truth (A printable craft to help you and your kids believe true things about God as you face your fears.)

R|M Apply Questions:
Laura and Emily gave some application points for fighting our fears—reading or memorizing scripture, prayer, incorporating music into our day, being silent, managing inputs and outputs, and taking practical steps. Which of these can you commit to this week, and how would it help you with your fears or struggles? Which one of these are you already doing? How has it helped you face your fears?
Can you think of a time where you shared a fear or struggle with another person in your family, friend group, church, or community, and it helped you feel less alone? How did their response specifically encourage you?
Is there a fear or struggle that you’re experiencing that you need to “bring into the light?” How do you think sharing this fear and inviting others to pray with you would help you fight and process the fear?
Think about your biggest fear (or maybe just any fear you have). What is the worst that could happen? Are your thoughts and responses proportionate to the threat? And how does knowing that Jesus will meet you there change your response to that scenario?
Consider your inputs and outputs. How does what you’re taking in (social media, conversations, entertainment) impact your thoughts and fears? How does what you're putting out explain your thoughts and fears?
