Farewell 03: What You’re Doing Matters, Mom. Here’s Why.

When we’re organizing the family calendar, packing lunches, or making a snack for our toddler, it can be tempting to feel as though no one sees our work as moms—but here’s the thing: God does see. God cares! Loving our children and faithfully tending to the tasks in front of us is a way we live a life of worship and make a Kingdom impact. In this episode, Emily and Laura unpack the phrase “every moment matters”—not because we’re expected to be perfect in every moment, but because no act of love and service is ever wasted. When we recognize that seemingly unspiritual, everyday things can be a chance to enjoy God and point others to his love, we can live for him in moments big and small.

Need encouragement that what you’re doing matters?

Do you find yourself wondering what all the work of motherhood is for? Or living for naptime, family vacations, or becoming an empty-nester? As moms, it can be easy to wish away one season for another, but God has given and ordained every moment in motherhood for your good and his glory. If you need the reminder that the work you’re doing is important and valuable, then A Million Tiny Moments: Reflections to Refresh a Mom’s Spirit was written just for you.

Releasing March 4, 2025, this book operates like a reference book with short, instant encouragement for every season.

R|M Apply Questions:

  • When you hear “every moment matters,” what do you begin to think about your motherhood? Does it encourage you to keep going or does it make you feel pressure to do more?

    • Consider journaling through the ways the Lord sees and cares for you in every moment, rather than expecting perfection out of you as a mom every moment of every day.

  • Read Psalm 136:16. When you think about the promise in Scripture that God’s steadfast love endures forever, how does this bring hope to the ups and downs of motherhood?

  • Do you feel a temptation to always look ahead to the next “big thing?” While there’s nothing inherently wrong with looking forward to future plans, what are some practical ways you can see purpose and meaning in the life God has given you today?

  • Pray that when you’re feeling tired or that what you’re doing is “not enough,” the Spirit will remind you that you’re seen, loved, and cared for by the Lord in Christ and that no effort or act of service in the kingdom is a waste.
