Real Life Wisdom from Elisabeth Elliot | Obedience .06
Today we have a real treat for you! In our final episode in the Obedience series we’re bringing you a talk from Elisabeth Elliot—a message to challenge and encourage all of us. She asks questions like “whose agenda are you following?” and “how do I respond when I feel like God isn’t supplying my needs?” If you wonder if God has forgotten you, withheld good things from you, or you want to trust his promises more, this talk is for you. Elisabeth lived through many difficulties, unanswered prayers, life on the mission field as a single mom, and she even outlived two husbands. Her words are a kind reminder that you can never drift beyond God’s love and care.
The Elisabeth Elliot Foundation was created based on the life, love, and ministry of Elisabeth and Jim Elliot. Through the ElisabethElliot.org website and other media platforms they bring together the writings and ministries of the Elliot Family in an evolving repository of their work, a resourceful collection of their writings and teachings, and a place to honor their legacy.
For this mini-series, we’re giving you a free five-day Bible study, Love Keeps You by Courtney Reissig, designed to supplement what we’re working through on the podcast. Jesus says, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments” (John 14:15). But what does keeping his commandments even look like?
We know we love Jesus. We want to obey. But how? This short Bible study walks you through Jesus’ last words to his disciples in John 13-17. They had questions about obedience too. Thankfully, Jesus gives the answers we all need.
Sign-up for our email list and you’ll get this Bible study sent right to your inbox!
The Bible study includes 5 days of study, a short devotional with a motherhood application, and a verse to read and apply with your kids!

R|M Apply Questions:
What does the word “presumption” mean? (Use a dictionary if you need to!) How have you been presumptuous with God in your life?
Elisabeth Elliot said “If I don’t have it, I don’t need it” when she was talking about unanswered prayers. Can you think of a time in your life when God didn’t answer a prayer in your timetable and it proved to be a blessing in your life?
What is one thing that comes to mind that you’re experiencing (or have experienced) that seems strange in God’s will or doesn’t make sense? Write a prayer of trust asking him to bend your will to his.
What happens when you forget God’s truth and his promises? What happens when you remember?
