Fear 04: The Perspective
Do you feel alone in your fears? Do you look around at your friends and neighbors and wonder if there is anyone who understands what you’re facing? Fear can be so isolating, but the good news is, we aren’t alone! In this episode, Laura and Emily introduce us to moms who’ve gone before us. They remind us that God gave us the gift of other believers— in our local churches, the global church, and even in church history—to strengthen our faith, give us courage, and help us know we have friends in the fight.
Note: We know that “fear” covers a wide variety of issues—some so lighthearted that we can easily brush them off, and some so disturbing that we can barely utter them to our closest friend. This series is aimed at the most common fears in motherhood—the things that cross our minds and motivate our daily actions. But due to the limitations of our knowledge and the brevity of a 7-episode series we don’t aim to address life’s most complex and sober terrors. Please keep in mind that some instances and experiences of fear may require professional counseling, pastoral care, or a medical doctor. If you find yourself in a situation that feels much larger than the topics we cover in this series, we encourage you to seek help from professionals who are trained to care for you best in this struggle.
The battle against fear takes an army, so we want to give you additional tools for that fight. In our Fear mini-series package you’ll find:
“Fear Him More,” a five-day devotional on fear and motherhood
The Wheel of Truth (A printable craft to help you and your kids believe true things about God as you face your fears.)

R|M Apply Questions:
Laura and Emily share three areas where we can learn from other believers as we face our fears (church history, the glocal church, and the local church). Of the three, which has helped you most in your walk with the Lord? How have they helped you?
Read Heb. 10:24-25. How has the local church or other believers encouraged you to “love and good deeds?” What role has the local church, or other believers, played in helping you face your fears?
Is there a woman in your church (or life) who has modeled courage and trust in the midst of fear? What helped her? What did she do? Share how her example helped you in your own walk with the Lord.
Regardless of what your current church is like, how does hearing stories about the global church facing persecution give you courage in your own fears?
