Ep. 155 || How Do I Pray for my Kids?: An Interview on Faithful Motherhood with Kristie Anyabwile
Prayer seems like one of the most basic parts of the Christian life, but it can also be one of the most confusing. What exactly is prayer? What should we pray for? Are there things we shouldn’t pray for? How do we teach our kids to pray? In this episode, Emily and Laura discuss these questions and more with Kristie Anyabwile. Kristie shares from her wisdom and experience, encouraging us to go boldly and confidently to the Lord in prayer. We don’t have to do it perfectly, because we have a perfect Savior who is always interceding for us!

R|M Apply Questions:
What aspects of prayer tend to be confusing or challenging for you? What keeps you from praying?
Kristie described prayer as a “lifeline” to God and a “prescription” for life in a fallen world. How might thinking of prayer in these ways encourage you to go to the Lord in prayer more often?
Motherhood can provide lots of material for prayer. What are some sins you see in yourself as you relate to your children that you could confess to the Lord? What are some areas of motherhood that you can ask the Lord to give you wisdom for? What are some specific things you could begin praying for your children?
Kristie encouraged us that we can pray the weak prayers, the short prayers, the “Lord, help me” prayers—we can pray about anything! What’s something on your heart or in your life that you haven’t thought you could bring to the Lord? Why don’t you go ahead and pray about it right now?
There are lots of practical ideas for prayer in this show (praying the Psalms, keeping a prayer journal, making prayer cards, praying Betty Scott Stam’s prayer, praying out loud with your children, etc.). What’s one practical idea you could implement this week to help you and/or your children grow in prayer?
